You created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am FEARFULLY and WONDERFULLY made.
(Psalm 139:13-14 emphasis added)
Parents and Friends of Calvary,
November is Adoption Awareness Month. Each year the Calvary Christian School community is blessed by the growing number of families who have opened their homes to adopt a child; some are blood relatives, and some are connected only by their hearts. But the picture of God adopting each believer into the family of God, and making us His son or daughter, is through these adoptive families lived out in flesh and blood every day.
I commend those families and pray God’s blessings and strength and provision.
Each adoption begins when a mom chooses life for her baby. My hope and my prayer are that more and more our community of the Chattahoochee Valley and our nation would be known for choosing life and eschewing abortion. Sadly, every abortion has at least two victims; the child and the mom. It’s time to put an end to this national tragedy and end the victimization of our most vulnerable.
I invite you to join me in prayer. Currently, our nation is in the midst of 40 Days for Life (https://40daysforlife.com/), the largest internationally coordinated pro-life mobilization in history, helping people in local communities end the injustice of abortion through prayer, fasting, community outreach, and peaceful vigil. Locally, the Seneca Choices for Life is hosting a prayer vigil through November 4. Click here to sign up and learn more. (https://40daysforlife.com/
As your child reaches the appropriate age, I invite all parents to discuss honestly the deception and the harsh realities of the abortion industry. Our children face a culture which demands the right to end a life because “it is a woman’s choice and no one can tell them otherwise.” May God have mercy on us as a nation. Family by family, we need to counter these lies and speak the truth to our children.
While your son or daughter is still in the home and under your influence, please address the topic of the sanctity of life. Help them understand what God has to say about life in the womb. Psalm 139 is a great start; other scriptures to review with your kids include Jeremiah 1:5, Psalm 127, and Genesis 1:27. This is only a portion of what God has to say about the topic of life.
After reviewing God’s truth about abortion and the sanctity of life, I challenge us as believers to convey unconditional love to our kids, affirming to them that they are safe to come to us in their time of greatest need. There may come a time in our child’s life when they have become responsible for a new life, but in circumstances which might bring embarrassment to their parents or damage to their reputation. It is vital that our sons and daughters know that we love them and that we will stand with them when they choose life.
There is much more that could be said, but I will close with this: please pray for the mothers grieving over the lives lost through abortion; pray that these moms might know the peace and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and one day look on His face and know they are fully forgiven. Pray also for those moms in the midst of the struggle; pray that they would choose life.
Thank you for hearing my heart on this. May God richly bless Calvary Christian School and may God bless America as we turn back to Him.
